Awakening

Sometimes our fingers touch
reaching across the morning light
connecting us instinctively
in ways that only our DNA
can best explain
We are supernatural then
able to walk on water
able to soar where our
bodies can not go
and I feel us merge at the dawn
deeper and more knowing
than at any other time
and for a brief moment
I understand life's mystery

Biography

Pat Mullan, a native of Derry, Ireland, has lived in England, Canada and the USA. He spent two years with the US Army in Japan and Korea. Formerly a banker, he is a graduate of Northwestern University and the State University of New York where he studied creative writing. He lives in Connemara, in the west of Ireland, with
