Elaine Cleveland

Haiku

half moon --
sails billowing
into safe harbor

nursing home dinnertime
coaxing Mother to eat --
"I want to go home"

old man in the diner
his face folding
into itself

at the next table
a family
says a blessing

in the cemetery
a headstone reads
Baby Wilson

two suns that day
dark mushroom cloud --
Hiroshima

miserly winter sun
doles out
hoarded warmth

early morning
sun highlights
spiders web

Biography

I am still happily retired. There is so much to learn about the various genres I wouldn't have time for a part time job. I have two internet teachers and we communicate by e-mail. One is on haiku and one is on fiction. Apart from in previous issues of Electric Acorn, I have also been published in Haiku Headlines and on the internet-based Asahi Haikuist Network
