Biography
I
was born in Houston, Texas. My father was a lawyer who enjoyed
the arts. His parents were from Cork and Donegal. My mother
was a teacher who liked playing the piano and painting. Her
parents were from New York and Arizona. When I was young I
use to surf hurricanes, listen to psychedelic music, study
nature, and self medicate. Now I wear a helmet when I ride
my mountain bike, play traditional Irish music, advocate nature,
and don't self medicate. I am a filmmaker, musician, poet,
photographer, and curator-in short an artist. My work has
been exhibited and published widely by such groups as The
British Journal of Photography, Whitney Museum of American
Art, Rice University Media Center, Massachusetts Institute
of Technology, The Cork Examiner, San Francisco Gael, ND Magazine,
Hallwalls, Jones Center for Contemporary Art, Diverse Works,
University of California at Davis, University of Denver, University
of Houston, University of Texas at Austin, Video Pool, F3
Film Festival, and beyond. Along the way I have collected
awards and press. But all of this pales in comparison to the
importance of gatherings of communities such as the Dublin
Writer's Workshop or Electric Acorn. For it is in these gatherings
of people that real change, understanding, and evolution happens.
