The Poet During War

the wordless poet
is good
for nothing
but stacking bones
into piles.
brittle bones
piled high as the
victims
of every century
the wordless poet
stacks bones
perfectly.

Biography

Joseph Ross is a poet who lives in Washington, DC. He directs the Writing Center and teaches Creative Writing at Carroll High School, an inner-city high school in Washington.
